Five weeks before a book launch
Five weeks left before Dragon Ink launches to the public and the to-do list is still pretty lengthy.
The project management part of my brain created a spreadsheet at the start of January and I’ve been ticking away at the list daily.
The start of the list was, of course, the actual book. Early January saw the completed edits to the cover/interior design. Ingram Spark was chosen as the printer through my imprint, OOMM Books.
I solicited a blurb for the cover, and worked with Brooke Warner Consulting to upload the book online, include an LCCN (Library of Congress number), and set up a presale for the ebook version.
The publication date (March 7th) was selected and a book launch set up through Left Coast Writers at Book Passage in Corte Madera (March 11th).
Last week was spent prepping content for my website, press releases, emails, posts, and misc. marketing material.
This week I’m assembling a team of early readers who I hope will leave a review on launch day. I’m sending them a pdf copy of the book and will follow up with a paperback closer to launch day with a special bookmark reminding them to please post a review on March 7.
I’m also smack in the middle of finishing posts and trying to think of something exciting for TikTok. I’d like it to be aimed at other self-published authors who are about to go on this incredible journey for the first time. Or maybe something fun for readers who love dragons?
I’ll have to think on that…
Waiting for inspiration.
