Stored Up

On my list of items to tackle (along with polishing three unpublished books) was to update my website. www.tamicasias.com has been operating for several years as the place I keep my blog and photos.

I wanted the space to serve a purpose.

I’ll use it as my writing portfolio, and I’ll add information that other writers may find useful as I blog my way through starting a writing career.

I studied several sites and articles on what to include. Here’s what I came up with:

  • Home page: Add a call-to-action. For me, it’s to subscribe for upcoming events and new releases. My first subscription list is dated, so this process is very important. Also, I use this space for any events and update accordingly.

  • For Readers: I’ve divided this into three pages: Novels, where I’ll list what’s out for sale, and what’s in the works (close to publication). I’ll include the description, genre, and where it can be purchased. Shorter Works: A couple of short stories that will be offered free. Super Shorts: I’ll rotate different song lyrics (some that I’ve created for an upcoming book…more later). I’ve added a Working Out Loud blog where I’ll post what I’m working on that day. (Accountability? You writers know what I mean).

  • For Writers: I’ve included two pages: the blog, where I’ll write about what’s going on in my writing life and what I’m learning. Inspiration will list different books I’ve enjoyed, and links to the authors, teachers, and media that resonates with me.

  • Contact & About: A quick contact link to email me directly, my genres, Instagram pages, and a little blurb about who I am.

  • Store: While I’m happy with the sales through multiple online services, I wanted a way to be able to send personalized/autographed copies to readers. The store will make that happen. I’ll also include other reading-relevant products from time to time.

  • Subscribe: I have multiple books coming out in the next couple of years. I need a way to let readers know, so I’m building an updated subscription list. I’ll likely send out a newsletter quarterly to keep readers in the loop.
